Bullets because otherwise this could be very scattered (like it isn't anyway, humor me.)
* Friday the interview went okay. It is at a temp agency so if and when I need it, they will be there. I am still debating with myself if I just want to trust that they will have enough temp assignments or hopefully a good temp to hire position available. I have a feeling they won't really look for anything for me until I don't have a job. Which reminds me I need to find out when this company is moving. I did head to the Maple Leaf where it was like club night. Seriously such a weird night there with all these really young kids there. I didn't stick around long.
*Saturday I got up and spent the morning reading, I love a good book whether it be chick lit or something heavier. This weekend it has been chick lit. I then went and had a marathon acupuncture session. My friend is licensed and I have been going to her for some time now. This weekend she said she wanted to do cupping as well. I have had this done a few times and it had been awhile. Pretty much what cupping is, they put alcohol in a glass, light the alcohol and then suction it to your back. It sucks out toxins and relaxes the muscles. It leaves some pretty interesting bruises on your back, and I can say it doesn't always feel pleasant. Especially when moving the glass from one spot to another, because they keep the suction going. Some areas however as you feel the tension leaving? Oh man....it is incredible. I could barely walk out the door I was so relaxed. I went home intent on sleeping, but I didn't, I started reading again.
* I decided to brave the Maple Leaf again Saturday night. Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes were playing and I love me some Sketch. The few regulars that were there talked about the weirdness from Friday night and we all just really enjoyed the music. The energy was really high from everyone that night. Everyone laughing and dancing and having a good time. It was a great New Orleans night.
*Yesterday I tried to catch up on sleep. Read for awhile and waited anxiously for the Tony's to start. I now of course want to see every show that is on Broadway. Hopefully I will get to make a theatre run up there someday soon.

Last night I sat down to finally watch the film version of Sweeney Todd starring Johnny Depp. Back when I first moved to Seattle I had been working at a book store, in receiving. So I was in the back office 99% of the time. The store manager was a major fan of the original cast recording and would play it constantly. I mean, it would end, and she would start it over. Every day. For weeks. I loved the cast recording as well, but after so many listens of it, I was tired of it. I was pretty excited when I heard there would be a film version, and was interested to see how Johnny Depp would do. I knew his acting would be superb, but his singing? I knew Tim Burton would have a perfect hand in it. I didn't catch it in the movie theater as time just slipped away and it has been sitting on my Netflix Queue for awhile now. So last night I popped it in. I wasn't disappointed. Obviously not all the music was included in the movie, but what was there was performed so well. It was just as dark as I expected, a little more gory than I had anticipated, so much so that I had to turn away a few times. I was so overly pleased and so glad that I hadn't been driven away from the music forever. It made me wish that I had gotten to see the concert version with Patti Lapone. oh that would have been so wonderful!
To top off the evening of musicals, I started watching Legally Blond, the search for Elle Woods. You know the MTV reality show that started last night. They are holding a competition to find the next girl to star in the Broadway show. Laura Bell Bundy has had the role since the show started (she was the original Amber Von Tussle in Broadway's version of Hairspray, saw that show in previews in Seattle, met her afterwards, she is so a stellar Broadway actress). Now not long ago MTV showed the Broadway show of Legally Blond and it wasn't the best, it wasn't the worse. It was a fun show and Laura Bell Bundy really had some great songs but definitely not a run right out and see for myself. Although I do love to get sucked into a new reality show, and being that this is about a Broadway show I knew I had to watch. It should be a good show, no one really stood out yesterday so I am anxious to see what kind of things they put these girls through for the next 8 weeks or so.
After all the fun and excitement of yesterday's semi announcement, all I can say is keep em crossed. I should hopefully be getting a phone call today, probably just to chat about what I can do. I am nervous that I have forgotten everything, however I know it will come flooding back once I start talking about it.
So last night I spent cleaning my room. Yes you read that right. Spent the night cleaning my room. I am a slob. I can admit it. I don't pick up after myself in my own room. The common areas? Yes...my room? No. It isn't that big of a space either, but right now it is looking good. Including the tower 'o merch from Bonerama and PBS. It is pretty impressive. There really is no where else to put it in the house but where it is. I took a picture that I didn't upload last night. I got too caught up in the "Biggest Loser" to do much else.

The following article just made me sad. Granted this show isn't the best show around. Ironically the writing wasn't that great. It didn't always show the town in the best light, but then again what televised cop show brings their city in good light. It is about fighting crime. I have enjoyed it however. Not just for the new phrases such as Gumbo Party (really...before K-Ville, there wasn't a Gumbo Party to be had...now there is) Watching the chase scenes go from the French Quarter to the Westbank and into the CBD in seconds flat. Of course only those from here or really familiar with the area would know this, yet it was a constant amusement for us. The stories did bring into focus issues going on down here in NOLA. I had a friend working on the show.
I just realized I am talking like the show is cancelled. It isn't, however it isn't looking good with the writer's strike going on. I realize why the writer's are on strike. It makes sense, and they do deserve to make more money. However it really sucks that because of this strike that the show could potentially go under. There was an article recently saying that the show was going to have to pick up more viewers with the next few eppies in order to survive, so it was struggling, but now it won't get those few extra ones because of the strike.
This show has brought in work for locals. Including a friend. It is the main source of income for them right now. The people working on the show from out of state, both crew and talent? They are spending their money here, for food, for drink, for homes, for clothes. It has brought in so much income of the city. It has been a small healing for some. I just hope those that come from out of state continue to come and find work even in the show gets cancelled. I know a few will.
So to those of K-Ville....for the time being? I will just say thank you.
K'Ville shuts down; show's future in doubt

The Fox network's cop show "K-Ville" will conclude local filming in New Orleans today, cutting short its planned 13-episode shoot by several weeks while cutting loose its large local crew.
The series, starring Anthony Anderson and Cole Hauser as NOPD officers working in post-Katrina New Orleans, was a victim of the Writers Guild of America strike, which started Monday. Fox released a post-strike spring schedule Wednesday and "K-Ville" isn't on it.
Today's filming of a scene on a submerged house set on Bayou St. John was the last scheduled location shoot on the series' 11th episode. Five episodes have aired. Original episodes are scheduled to air the next three Mondays at 8 p.m. on WVUE-Channel 8, but the remaining episodes are so far unscheduled.
The show, which had suffered scathing reviews by critics and lukewarm-at-best national ratings, is not officially canceled. Its main NOPD station-house set, built in a Harahan warehouse, will not be immediately disassembled.
But an extended strike - and word out of Hollywood is that a quick settlement between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers is unlikely - probably means that this week's shooting is the show's last. "If this strike were to settle in 2-3 months, I think we'd come back and finish our order and have a good shot at a back nine," said Kelly Manners, the show's supervising producer. "If this strike draws out past January, I think quite possibly it's the death of the show."
"Back nine" is Hollywood lingo for the second half of a show's typical season of 22 episodes. A last-minute race to finish one more script before the strike by the show's Los Angeles-based writing staff, which would have given the "K-Ville" company about 10 more days of work, fell short. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
"The script came in and the studio made the call, and they thought it just wasn't quite there," said Manners, whose production credits include "Buffy and Vampire Slayer" and "Nash Bridges" and extend as far back as the 1970s drama "Wonder Woman." "If we'd had another couple of days . . . we'd probably be shooting one more.
"It's really heartbreaking, because I think we're making some of our best shows, and I think it would continue to get better."
Being sick over a weekend is no fun. I felt the need to be responsible and grown up and to take care of my body this weekend. I did joke at one point that maybe the alchol could kill the germs that had invaded my body. However gaining the energy to move beyond the couch or my bed was just too much for me. Friday night, I was asleep by 7:30 PM. Seriously. I was then up early on Saturday but I didn't do much beyond watch a few movies and doze in and out. I did get the energy to shower and we did head out to the Mirloton (sp) festival for a few hours. We caught Big Sam and Morning 40 Federation. Several of my friends commented on the lack of enthusiusm that I had for the evening. I couldn't help it. I was enjoying the music and company, but once again the energy was lacking. It was nice to hang out with some people outside their normal work atmosphere. After that ended a few of us went to dinner at a Mexican resturant and then I was asleep by 9 PM on the couch. I tried to watch "Legally Blonde the Musical" that had been tivo'd off of MTV but I just couldnt' get into it. Sunday I was up at the crack of dawn....meaning 6 AM and did make it down to the Maple Leaf to watch the Saints win. They all knew I was off there as well....I only drank coke. Of course that meant last night I crashed at 8:00....such a thrilling weekend of trying to rest, getting it, and still feeling drained beyond belief. The crap that I am coughing up isn't pleasant either. The good thing is I am not waking myself up coughing at night. Yet.
I didn't hate it. I didn't totally love it though either. Some of the acting was pretty shallow, mainly by the bit players so hopefully they will be casting better extras and bit parts in the future. I loved seeing that one dude. I don't know his name...but he was on Lost for a few eppies. He was one of the bad dudes at the Riverfront Casino. Guess Harrah's was cool with filming there but not the use of their name. How many people out there know what OPP is? Kristen and I looked at each other after that was said and Kristen said "not many people are gonna get that" There were a few things thrown in there that only a New Orleanian would get (or those that are New Orleanians in their heart) After all the bad guys were captured (oh how I wish that really happened down here. That fast?) and they were talking about deals being made by the guys? I said "yeah that is all good till the D.A. and everyone else messes it up and they all go free. " Lord knows if that had really happened here? All those people would have gotten off. I also loved the chase scenes. Look they are in the Quarter, now they are in Algiers, now they are back in the CBD. I know they have to do that....I have seen it in movies filmed down here, but it amuses me to no end.
Some people are going to think it was incredibly sappy and that this stuff doesn't happen down here. Guess what? There are people that are still struggling to no end with what happened. It isn't healthy and people are fighting to move on. There are still so many obstacles in the way. Yes people really are that emotional down here.
I will continue to watch, and I hope others do as well. Like I said, it has created jobs for people out here and that is a good thing. One small step in healing.
The only thing that made the people at the Maple Leaf really cheer yesterday during the Saints game was the commericals for K-Ville. People seem to be excited for the show. It starts tonight on FOX after Prison Break. I am happy that I will still be able to watch HIMYM and then be able to catch K-Ville. I really hope it doesn't suck
We rode our bikes past the K-Ville set yesterday evening. They changed the name of the Maple Leaf for the filming. It was something like Spreaders or Shakers or something along that line. I do know it started with an "S". That is how observant I am. On the way back from the bike ride we got stopped from crossing a road so they could film a car parking on Dante. Kristen thought it was a car chase. Nope just a car parking.
Our bike ride was much more pleasant and easy to handle yesterday. We rode along the levee to the Huey P. Long Bridge. It had a few hills that really got the legs burning, but the ride was so smooth. As you know the streets here in NOLA aren't the "best".
Britney Spears song is stuck in my head. You know the one that was on the VMAs? Regardless of what most people think of her right now and that whole situation, something was done right. People are STILL talking about it, about her, about everything. She is in the spotlight nice and bright. I feel sorry for the girl. She needs some help but doesn't obviously want it right now.....
In hopes to get that song out of my head, tonight I am heading to d.b.a. If you are a local and you read this, come out tonight or one of the next few Thursdays this month. My friend Paul Sanchez is playing from 7-10 and it one of the most fun, relaxing and enjoyable evenings of music you will have. You never know who will stop in to join him on stage, you never when you might get to hear a new song. (He starts recording next month I believe) You do know when you will hear an old fav cuz he loves taking requests. :)

We got a notice in the mail yesterday that the new Fox series "K-ville" will be filming today in my neighborhood. One of the locations is one street over on Dante. The other is....wait for it....are you ready? The Maple Leaf babee. My home away from home. They will be shooting both interior and exterior shots. You know when I get off work I am gonna go and check it out. I am excited to see the show air. You can view it now if you want....I know nola.com had a link so people could watch it in advance, I like waiting. I hope the show does well because it is providing so many local people with jobs right now, including a friend and she doesn't need to lose a job right now.
So watch it when it comes on please. Give it a chance. It will help us here in NOLA.
Friday night was an amazing night of music. It was Paul Sanchez, Sonia Tetlow, Mary Lasange, David Torkanowsky and the drummer from the Iguana's. It was shorter sets as Paul still wasn't feel all that great, but you couldn't tell. The music was ON FIRE. Really, there was no other way to put it. There was a fun group of people there, including Chris Rose. Shelley, Paul's wife said I could come visit her on the set of K-Ville when she starts back up to work in a few weeks. WHOO HOO!! :) After Paul finished it was time to head to the Leaf and hear the rest of Tony Hall's set. Amazing.....then off to home. I didn't move much of Saturday. I tried watching a few movies, only to fall asleep within in 5 mins of each one. I guess my body was just tired.
That evening I went over to some friend's where we ate a lot of food and drank beer. It was nice to get to meet their neighbors and hear some interesting stories about a few people we all know....It was nice.
Yesterday I caught up on some tivo, finished up a book (I kinda gave up keeping track of the 50 book challenge....I have read at least 10-15 that haven't been put up here if not more) ran some errands, cleaned the house and watched a few movies. I caught "The Holiday" which was sweet and Marie Antoinette. I found this movie to be MUCH better than Sophia Coppola's last one. (it was soooo boring, Lost in Translation) it was visually beautiful. A little weird in areas, like the flashing of banners on a painting. It told the story, yet didn't. I felt there was so much more that could have been told, and the ending was way to abrupt for me, yet I still enjoyed the movie.

As I stated before, this past week was a busy one. It seemed I was on the go doing something every evening after work. I decided to continue that through the weekend. We had a lovely dinner at Mona Lisa out on Royal street with some great friends. The portions of the food served there are enormous. Enough for at least 3 substantial meals. After dinner, even though I was fading fast we headed on out the the Maple Leaf. Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews was playing and it was the first time I had seen him play there (with his own band) It was a fantastic show that had people 2nd lining through the Leaf. Apparently he was the first band to do that in a looooooong time (if at all). I was glad I was able to get my 102nd wind and catch the whole set.
Saturday I headed out the Quarter to meet up with Lisa and some of her krewe. It was one of the most perfect days weather wise. We wandered all through the Quarter and just soaked up the atmosphere. I then ran home to catch a 20 min cat nap before I started rushing around the house to get ready to head on out to Matt Perrine's CD release party for "Sunflower City" Let me tell you how wonderful that night was. So many people I knew, to celebrate something that is just AMAZING. I am so happy for Matt, the cd he put together is a faboulus tribute to the city and her inhabitants. He had played for me a few tunes here and there, but hearing it live? oh man...it was amazing and I am glad I got to be a part of it. After the CD party broke up, a few of us headed over to Megan and Andy's for a party there. Then it was home to bed for me while the die-hards went out to Frenchmen street.
Yesterday I finally caught up a week's worth of tivo and worked on my sister's blanket. I was so exhausted (the time change did not of course help) that I didn't go out to Rock-n-Bowl like I wanted to. I really really really wanted to but the thought of getting ready to go out just tired me. So I didn't go. I then ended up waking up almost every hour and that was even with some tylenol pm in my system. So I should have gone to Rock-n-Bowl....I am tired anyway.
Today I have my eye appointment. I am hoping that the doctor just says that he needs to laser any holes in the retina closed, which he does in office at the time of the visit. Hope, pray and send good mojo that I don't need another surgery!! It is a fear everytime I go to this doctor.
On a more positive, fun note. (to keep myself distracted) here are some funny/happy things that have happened.
Sunday I was waiting for the bus across the street from Walgreens on Carrollton. There are a few trees and in those trees there were about 5 billion birds. I was leaving a voicemail for Kristy and pretty much the whole thing was "shit, a bird just shit on me. On my pants. Shit, another one just did the same thing...in my hair....now my shoulder." I don't know if I actually said anything beyond the bird shit count. Isn't that suppose to be good luck??? It was actually quite amusing....after I showered.
Yesterday morning I got in my co-workers car and she said your hair is white. Yes my hair had frozen. I had gone outside with wet hair (never seem to run on time) and it was FREEZING outside. The short wait I had for her to show up, froze my hair. Which would partially explain why it looked like hell yesterday. However I never thought my hair would freeze down here!!
Last night as I finished up my book, and watched "How I Met Your Mother" (funniest...ending...EVER) Maxwell (Kristen's cat) decided the best place to lay was on my lap. He has been doing that lately...this did not make my cat pleased....so later she curled up UNDER the blanket. I woke up around 3 this morning in my bedroom and both cats were curled up on my bed...on top of me. I am not going to freeze at night if they keep this up!! :)
Happy Birthday goes out to one of the sweetest, hardest working musicians in NOLA....someone who I am lucky enough to call my friend, Mr. Craig Klein!!!

I had a nice post all done up with a red little bow, when my computer froze and I lost everything. I then proceeded to actually do some work, and forgot pretty much everything I wrote. So once again, its comin at you bullet style, in totally random order.
Seahawks won. They sucked, but they won. At least the first half with the 7 sacks was pretty fun to watch.
Seriously....Neil Patrick Harris (aka Swarley) is gay? dammit. Not suprising, but dammit.
Benefit show at Tips last night was full of wonderful music, suprises, and just plain good times. Bonerama rocked it with what seems to be their new band member Tony Clifton. Brings a whole new 'tude to the gigs.
Tipitina's Foundations, Musicians Clinic, and Arabi Wrecking Krewe should be proud, it was a nice touch to have so many different musicians present.
Ray finally got "boned" Hope you enjoyed it enough to come to the Maple Leaf on Saturday!
I said two words to Mike Mills from REM it was either "great job" or "sounds great" to which he responded "thanks" I rule.
Its flooding in Washington. Washington State. To my peeps up in Seattle, if you need some shrimp boots, waders, a rubber duckie, let me know.
Chris Rose was there last night. I stood next to him during the Bonerama set, didn't say a word. I was/am intimated by him. He writes so well, and is always right on the money. Hell Dooce even linked to him. That is uber cool.
With a little amount of sleep, I am feeling remarkably "normal" today.
My sister finally sent me the pics of her ultrasound from last Friday. I may have teared up a bit when I saw my little niece/nephew. We won't know if it is a boy or a girl for about 6 more weeks. I already told her I think its a boy.

I was pleased with the outcome. At the beginning of the show, I had said to Kristen, "It is going to come down to Jeffery and Uli" and I was right. I think Jeffery deserved to win. He showed tremendous growth. Especially with his last few designs and his collection. Uli's was beautiful, but very much the same as always only real difference I saw? The lack of the crazy prints. I love Michael...and had from the beginning but his collection?? I did not like AT ALL. There may have been one piece I liked and that was that. Laura's? Yeah....not really liking either. I would totally wear pieces from either Jeffery or Uli. If my fat ass would fit in them of course! ;) Oh and apparently Michael is dating Brandy now. You know...the singer?? That is kinda cute. I think Jeffery, Uli and Michael will have great careers. I just don't see Laura going on much further. Especially after that one challenge when she was pretty much questioning if she wanted to do it anymore.
Last night was the first half of the finale for Project Runway. If you remember my guesses for the Top 3 were: Michael, Kayne, and Uli. So 2 of the 3 are still part of the finale. Michael's stuff that he is creating? NOT. LIKING.IT. I think I kept saying last night "what the hell??" I am hoping it looks better on the models. Uli's stuff looks very Uli. Laura's stuff? well Tim is right she is going to need to make it younger. (the bit with the turtle poop at Laura's place was some funny stuff) Jeffery's stuff? I actually liked. I haven't been a huge fan of Jeffery but the past few weeks I have wavered. I don't think he had any outside help and the rest of them just need to chill out. I mean Uli and Michael didn't have most of their pieces even STARTED when Tim did the home visits. Jeffery did. As did Laura. Jeffery doesn't have as big of a family (like Laura does), so I think he was working his ass off. Like he said last night it IS for Bryant Park. I mean come on....you can't go into there half assed. The previews for the last eppie kinda make it seem like Jeffery perhaps did have outside help, that he doesn't get to participate.
*******SPOILER AHEAD DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!*********
Seeing that I have seen some of the pics from the Bryant Park show (google it, its out there that is how I knew there would be 4 going instead of 3) you can see the pieces on the runway and that Jeffery did indeed show. So I don't know if when they showed the clip of him crying it was because they said he was innocent or that he could show but won't be in consideration for winning? I don't know. I am actually really hoping for innocent. Because that would suck otherwise. I do think with everything that he has been through? I don't think he would cheat. I felt so bad for him.
******End Spoiler*********
In totally unrelated news, I found out today that the Tower Records here in town (on Decatur in the Quarter) is closing. All Tower Records are. This really sucks because Virgin Records didn't re-open after the thing. This is probably going to be really good news for Louisiana Music Factory, they will hopefully get alot more business for the local music. For me? It kinda sucks. Tower is where I would go that was easy access to national music, movies, and magazines and books. Now? I am going to have to hitch a ride out to the *oh the horror* mall to get this kind of stuff. I like that Tower. Although I did tend to feel guilty going there, just to buy movies. I don't think LMF will be selling Scrubs on DVD.
I have a few things...and since I am so "great" at forming one rational thought. (HA) I am doing this once again bullet style.
Yesterday afternoon I got a bug bite. I have no idea from what. It formed almost like a blister and itched like mad. Later in the evening, right next to the bite, a bruise formed. Not a purple and blue bruise, more like a black bruise. The blister like form is gone, rather its not as bubbly. It is still slightly raised and red. I wonder what the hell it was and if I should worry about it at all. It doesn't itch anymore, it's really not even bothering me. Other than being SERIOUSLY UGLY.
Project Runway last night was highly amusing. I had been looking forward to the reunion show. After hearing Jeffery talk about the Angela/Angela's mom situation? I don't feel that bad about it anymore. Not that he should have talked to her mom that way, however I wonder if ANY of the designers would have been nice to her, the way she was complaining. Now that I think about it? Jeffery totally didn't chose her but was stuck with her because everyone else got to chose first. They didn't want to get stuck with her. Like Laura said, Angela's mom gave Jeffery a hard time, when the other family members were all laid back and cool with what the designers were doing. I loved the Tim-isms, the word count on Kayne, Laura's serious ugly moments and that weird guy's laugh!! The guy that was kicked off? Still annoys me. OH OH and let's not forget Vincent's tirade over the laundered clothes!! Classic reality TV moment.
Lost. WHAT the hell?? That is pretty much on that.
I am really enjoying this not riding the bus in the morning. I don't have to deal with stinky perfume lady any more, getting harrassed in Lee Circle, being squished in the bus, waiting over 40 mins for a bus, oh the list could go on and on. So far in the afternoons riding the bus home has been quite pleasent! Maybe I shouldn't say that....I may have just jinxed it!
Walked again last night around the park. It is so nice here in the evenings, that the park is just FULL of people! It makes it a little intimidating to stop at the fitness stops because everyone STARES at you doing it. Like they didn't realize it was there!
My roomies and I have decided to all lose a little weight before the holidays. My creative/teacher roomie made up little posters which are on the fridge. One for each of us. It has a candy cane on it and we can color a portion in each time we lose a pound. Her goal is to lose 10 lbs by the holiday. I would love to lose alot more.
Remember "Freshman 15?" yeah..we have "Katrina 15" or 20. or 50. Okay not that much but it sure as hell feels like that.
We have done so well the first 2 days of this week. We have walked in Audubon Park both days. 1.7 miles each day. We also stopped at every other fitness stop on Monday. Yesterday we hit the ones we didn't do on Monday. Between gutting the house on Saturday and then this? I can barely move my muscles. It is a great tension release however. Monday night I crashed hard. best night sleep I have had in months. However last night? It didn't happen as much. I fell asleep a little after 10. Woke up at midnight. At 2, at 4, at 4:30, when the alarm went off at 5, then I reset the alarm for 5:45. In the that time period? I woke up every 4 mins. I am going to be so AWESOME to be around later today! I can not fall asleep during Lost OR Project Runway tonight. Won't make me happy if I do!

The new TV season is upon us. Here are the shows I am most looking forward too or have seen.
Celebrity Duets. Have seen one eppie, kinda like it. Who knew Xena Warrior Princess could sing?? (okay I did know that)
Til Death. Not likin it so much. But I will try it at least one more week
Studio 60. I am so freakin excited for this. Matthew Perry AND Bradley Whitford?? I think I may have died and gone to TV heaven.
The Class. Could be good.
How I met your Mother. I believe this is also new for tonight.
The Megan Mullally show. I forgot to set the Tivo up for this...it started today. I remember to do it today at some point but not sure if I made it in enough time.
Lost.
There are more. I know I set the Tivo up for more. Oh like that one...20 good years or whatever its called....wanna see that one. Tonight will be TV viewing pleasure!!
I have called who was in and who was out again last night. Me. A person with no real fashion sense. I text'd Carrie during the final commercial break and said, Michael will win and Alison will go. Now, I was a bit disappointed to be right about Alison leaving. I think she has done some great stuff....however? Vincent has that drama quality that they are looking for. I think Lauren and Vincent will get into it a bit more. Speaking of...Lauren? I don't like her. I liked her clothes when the show first started....but now? After seeing a bit more of her stuff, how she hasn't really taken any risks and just does what she feels safe with? Yeah....don't like it. Same ole same ole gets boring after awhile. Not to mention how catty she can be and she sits there and smiles as she is saying it? I thought her almost non exsistancant boob was going to pop out last night. That would have been pretty funny.
We have a new housemate! She will be moving in come Sept. It is someone I already know, and I had introduced her to Kristen last week. She came by the house and loved it! So the huge dreaded search does not have to happen. Of course she will be bringing a kitty with her, we will remain a 3 kitty household.
In other news, there are a few possible storms churning out in the Gulf. We will know in most likely by tomorrow if one will become the 3rd named Tropical Depression of the season. Thankfully we have been getting rain everyday for something like the past two weeks. Yesterday I made home right before a downpour started. I am always anxiously awaiting our power to go out during each storm. Luckily it has only happened once this summer. I am also quite proud of myself for finally remembering to bring an umbrella with me to work. For someone who rides the bus, this should be a necessity. Last week however I was convinced that I would have to have tattooed on my forehead “Don’t forget your umbrella dumb ass” I don’t think I would have started any huge fashion trends that way.
Speaking of fashion trends…I was quite happy to see Miss USA didn’t change up Kayne’s (from Project Runway) dress that much at all in the Miss Universe pagent. I really loved that dress! I was really routing for Miss Japan, and was bummed when Miss Puerto Rico won. Which brings me to a question, I thought Puerto Rico was part of the United States….am I wrong? I guess they are only part of the United States when its convientient. I don’t know. Miss Japan got robbed.
Do you ever have some weeks/weekends where you have absolutely nothing planned and you tend to think to yourself “I have no life??” After I hurt my back I made no plans for several weeks. This weekend when talking to my mom she asked, “your not doing anything this weekend??” After I talked her out of her shock….I did end up hanging out with some friends on Saturday. That was it. I didn’t realize how crazy my week was until…last night. Last night we had a press conference (which pretty sure no press showed up for, because who really cares about rebuilding New Orleans) for Acorn and Arabi Wrecking Krewe and the work we will be doing together. A good time was had by all. I was reminded by Megan and Andy that tonight was the Thank You party for the Wed. in the Square Volunteers. Tomorrow night a bunch of the AWK peeps are going to meet up at Vaughn’s. Friday night will be Bonerama fun at the Leaf, Saturday will be wrecking of course. I think I will lie in my bed all day Sunday. Damn…no I can’t do that…the Tivo is in the living room. I need to catch up on all Newsradio. It’s back on tv!! Nick at Nite!! Guess its sofa city for me!!

We need aqua, rain, something!! It has been dark most of the afternoon, and there have been a few rain storms. But not like we need. yesterday it teased us, one side of the house was all dark, there was lighting and thunder, on the other side of the house? Sunny. The weather here just rocks my world. Its so cool. Obviously it can get really really bad (see weather on Aug 29th 2005) but most of the time its pretty damn awesome.
Speaking of awesome....okay not so awesome, but its much needed. National Guard is coming back to New Orleans. Just for the record I got a ride to the gig last Friday, and Russell was sweet enough to give me a ride home. I am still not going to marry him however. Drummers are off the list for now. ;)
I need the car fixed and I need the damn title. I was out at the bus stop this morning at my normal time...6:45 AM and the bus didn't show up until 7:20. I am to be at work at 7:30. Sucks. The GM said he could come and pick me up on his way in...I said "you get there too early!!" He is GETTING to work around 6:45. Maybe that isn't so bad. I could make more overtime that way.
We are a day away from the start of summer, which also means 2 months exactly until my birthday. Shopping should have started. ;) OKAY...I don't expect anything from my sister since her present from last year is still sitting in my room....not finished. I swear I will work on it really really soon. Really.
Could be old news to some....but Zach Braff's website is up and running finally. It's pretty cool and has a montage from his new movie!!! He is so adorable!!

I was sitting there nibbling on a sandwich at a retirement luncheon for one of the guys in the shop. I was sitting with a few guys, one kinda being my supervisor and he says "That kid that one American Idol? Mr. X knows him. (Mr. X being one of the guys that works in Birmingham) I guess Taylor sent him and email asking him to vote for him when he got on American Idol" My response? "How do I get on Mr. X's good side. I love me some Taylor"
I am spending a quiet evening at home right now trying to get rid of a raging headache. Been with me all day. I need some energy tonight as I will be at the Maple Leaf in a few hours selling merch for PBS. Tomorrow is a long day with Arabi Wrecking Krewe, where there are rumours to be a jam session at lunch. I swear the rule was though that "we eat, we're done" or something to that effect. ;) Its going to be a long hot sweaty day. Doncha wanna come and help??

Have you voted today?? I have gotten through twice....thats it. I tried for a solid hour.
I just got back from NYC....we had a great time....saw Harry Connick Jr. on Broadway in The Pajama Game....it was a great show with the exception of stupid audience members. Oh well. Harry is a proud owner of an Arabi Wrecking Krewe button however. ;) It was a fun trip and we walked 3 gazillion miles.
I won't be able to blog as much. Work has blocked all blogging sites now. I can kinda understand that...but when you answer the phones and that is all??? It is sooooo freakin boring up there. I go crazy just being up there an hour a day covering breaks!! Oh well. So be it....

This morning I walked out of the house, thinking I was just in time for the bus. I saw it pulling away as I got to the park. Then I realized it was the Tulane bus, not the St. Charles bus and that there was a bus still sitting there. As I got closer, I realized it was another Tulane bus and that the St. Charles wasn't there. So either it was running late, or left a few minutes early. So I wait for the next bus....and wait....and wait....about 15 mins later, here comes a St. Charles....and there goes the St. Charles. She didn't stop. I recognized the driver, she was suppose to be the bus that I thought I missed. Guess I did miss it. She was obviously running late, and decided to make up time but not stopping at any of her stops. Too bad one of her supervisors was sitting right there and witnessed her fly-by. Half an hour later a bus arrived and I got to work, 20 minutes late. Of course the girl who answers the phones? Isn't in today. Oh well...it was beyond my control.....
Its that karma thing. I had a great weekend...I hung out with friends on Friday night, heard great music, ate good food. Saturday I did not make out it out to help with Arabi Wrecking Krewe as planned. I felt really bad about that. My body wasn't going to let me move that fast. We did head out to Pontatrain Vineyards for Craig Klein's set. It was a ton of fun. He didn't think I was gonna sell many cds...but I did. 27 of them!! Not bad at all. Yesterday I attempted to finally catch up on Tivo. I couldn't keep my eyes open for longer than 20 mins....only got a third of my laundry done. It was relaxing.
Its gonna be a quiet summer. Lots of my favorite musical acts will be out of town, on the road, making others happy with their music. Leaves me lots of time to get ready for running if another hurricane decides to head this way.

For the past 3 mornings I have fallen asleep in the on the bus. Not a full out, snoring, waking up in a puddle of drool. But enough. I do the head bobbing thing. You know....where your head jerk backs and wakes you up? Yeah that would be me on the bus. I make it to my stop and its all good.....I guess I will have to get more rest. But not tonight. Cuz tonight its Wednesday in the Square and the Radiators are playing....opening is Beatin Path!! YAY!! More live music. And then if I am up to it, I will run over to Spotted Cat to see Pfister Sisters finish up their set. Or maybe just curl up at home and watch my Tivo'd Lost and find out that Katherine got kicked off Idol. Cuz she will. Please...oh Please....
Last night I decided to watch a movie Tivo had recorded with my boyfriend Matthew in it. I read what the movie was about and said to myself "hmmmm I haven't seen this one" so I settle down on the couch to watch Frailty. Right after the credits finished rolling and the movie really kicked in, I then said out loud "maybe I have seen this, or parts of it" Kristen looks up from her work then looks at me and said "you watched this the day before the storm. On that Saturday...when I came home and said aren't you leaving???" I totally forgot that I had even watched the movie. THE WHOLE MOVIE!!! Either it was sucky or I just blanked out that Saturday before the storm. I watched the whole movie again....it wasn't that great...really weird, but still.....to forget that you watched a whole movie???? damn. That is sad.
Yesterday when I got home from work, I was flipping thru an old People magazine (it was the Oscar wrap up one....but the newest one the grocery store had, we are that behind) and I noticed an ad for the new season of "The Surreal Life" I thought to myself "I HAVE to watch this season" and then realized that it had started the 19th. Well, duh like it won't be 50 thousand more times.....I did set up the ole Tivo to catch it, and as it happens? They aired the first eppie again last night. Now why did I have to watch it so bad? Cuz FREAKIN C.C. deVille is on it this season!!! You know...the guitarist from Poison??? My obsession band in Jr. High and High School.....I loooooooved hair bands then. They also have on Tawny Katen (sp) you know....the chick that rolled around on cars in the Whitesnake videos, Sherman Helmsley aka George Jefferson, the lead singer for Smash Mouth, some 22 year old Playboy bunny, and Alexis Arquette!!! Alexis is the transgender Arquette!!! Then they brought in, Florence Henderson, you know....Mrs. Brady!!! She isn't staying in the house...but there everyday for to be the "therapist to the group. The 2nd day there the guests had to choose a "hunk" to also stay with them...the hunks consisted of former reality stars, some dude from Survior, someone from Real World, the dude that slept with Paula Abdul and some others.....it looks like it is gonna be interesting. C.C. had come STRAIGHT from rehab to the house, Tawny is also sober as is the lead singer for Smash Mouth......and the others? They were throwin back the cocktails....I love trash TV. It ROCKS!!
We got it to work!! Finally!! After having the darn thing for just about 3 months, we got it to finally work with our wireless. That meant that I didn't have to stay up to watch one of my boyfriends, Matthew on Conan last night, and that when I get home from work? I can watch his yumminess. Tomorrow the movie that he is in, Failure to Launch, is released, a lot of it was filmed here in NOLA, in fact they finished up like 3 weeks before "the thing" I can't wait to see it.
I am so frustrated right now. I joined this ediets thingy and they started sending me some vitamins. I am no longer really following this diet. Okay I am not at all. I can't find a way to discontinue the service, and they are charging me $74 for the vitamins!!! I don't want them anymore, and I can't find anyway to stop the services!!! that is a lot of damn money for me right now. I didn't even authorize for them to send me vitamins!! UGH. Off to go and look some more.
I seriously thought I would throw my phone (aka my alarm) out the window this morning. Then I remembered a few weeks ago I was almost out of my mind when my phone didn't work. So I got up. I shouldn't be complaining about sleep. Cuz for some people like Zoot? Sleep is non-existant right now.
But let me tell you how stressful my evening was. Oh wait it wasn't!! I read for awhile, then I watched Scrubs. Then read for awhile more. So far, this is a damn boring blog post. I am back downstairs on the phones today and tomorrow, so expect more posts.
Oh here is something....right now on accuradio, Broadway channel, they are playing "I should tell you" from the Rent soundtrack. I know some of you are saying "you said soundtrack and you always correct us when we refer to a soundtrack with a Broadway show." Well the difference is, this IS the soundtrack from the 2005 Movie. Not the cast recording from the Broadway cast. So there!! I was so happy that the movie is out on DVD now. I can watch my girl crush Idina Menzel (aka Taye Diggs wife) when ever I want. I want to be her when I grow up. She has an amazing voice. I also get to watch the fantastic, beautiful and amazing Jesse L. Martin whenever I want. Okay so I could always just switch to TNT or something and catch him on Law and Order....but he SINGS in this movie just like he did on Broadway, and he makes me cry when he sings at Angel's funeral. I haven't delved into the extra's on the DVD yet. I may do that tonight. Wait is Lost new tonight??? I heard it wasn't...anyone??
This weekend was so nice. It was the perfect way to wind down from the Mardi Gras madness that had consumed our lives. Friday night we went to Cafe Amelie on Royal St. It is across from the Cornstalk Hotel. It has a beautiful courtyard area, delicious food/drink, and with the music of John Boutte (with Leroy Jones and Todd Duke) it was even better. Rob Savoy, the former bassist for Cowboy Mouth was there with his wife!! We made it an early night, as in home by 12. Saturday was relaxing with a trip to the grocery store and to Tower so I could pick up Rent on DVD. We then watched the movie and relaxed the afternoon away. Earlier in the morning, I had gotten a text message from Craig telling me that the New Orleans Nightcrawlers were playing at Blue Nile. Kristen and I headed out to d.b.a. to catch some more of the trio from the night before. Uncle Lionel was there and got me to dance with him. After they finished up (they played the early set) we walked down to Blue Nile, just in time for the NONC set. Matt was in a funky mood, happy to be playing there I guess. He is off in Europe again for 2 more weeks. Uncle Lionel even showed up at Blue Nile!! There is nothing like hearing "Funky Liza" by NONC. Even if it was slow!! It was a nice night, again a fairly early evening, we left at the set break. Yesterday, I laid on the couch and read, and watched the Oscar coverage ALL.DAY.LONG. It was nice. I was happy my boy George won, and that Crash won best movie. As soon as I saw it in the theaters earlier this summer, I knew it had it wrapped up. My roomies were amazed I didn't bet on the Oscars cuz I called all the major winners before they were announced. I just like my Oscars that is all!! I do have to say that John Stewart annoyed the shit out of me to no end. Oh well....he was easy to zone out after awhile. Now its back to a full work week, I think I can handle it. :)

Last night Adam, Carrie and I headed out to the Baton Rouge area to have dinner with two of my most favoritist people. It was alot of fun, nice and relaxing. Even if almost everyone was in bad moods when we got there...it quickly cleared up. Gayle and Hank always make me laugh. Even if I didn't get to hear all the stories because someone wouldn't finish them. ;)
If I am at home for more than two minutes today I may post the pic of my new tattoo. Maybe even a few of my very cute and sweet kitty who has forgotten who I am. I have had a lot of fun this past week, but I am damn tired. The big plans this evening are grocery shopping (starting that scary word today, you know the one "diet") and taking down some Christmas decorations. That may wait until this weekend though. I don't know. I really just want to sit down and read. Since I read 58 (?) last year I am challenging myself to read 68. I think I read a page yesterday. I better get my butt in gear. However what I just bought today, may not help in anyway. I finally sucked it up and got Tivo. Now I won't miss any more eppies of Scrubs, Will and Grace, Lost, anything with Harry, How I Met your Mother, and whatever else I get sucked into watching. I really can't wait to see Skating with Celebraties. I have a feeling I will be laughing my ass off while watching that one.

It was a relaxing yet productive weekend. I "slept in" on Saturday to 7:30...a whole hour!!! I got up and puttered around the house, cleaning a bit. I ran to the PO and finally got a few of the things I had been waiting for. Now if the most important would just show up already!! I ran out to Michael's and picked up more yarn for the blanket I am making for my sister. I then went home and worked on that until Kristen got home. We then put up the Christmas tree, while viewing the "Harry for the Holiday's" DVD that came out what? 2 years ago??? We had to stop and get more lights at one point...how come it is no one ever seems to have the right amount of lights?? We then went to dinner out at Bacco's. First time I have been there...and O_M_G it was sooo good. My starter was Butternut Squash soup then I had lobster ravioli. It was the BEST. We also had a Katrina Rita. Get it?? Katrina Rita??? It was pretty good. We also really wanted to go to get beingets (yes I realize this whole post so far is misspelled its Monday, leave me alone) Cafe du Monde closes at 10, and we did the power walk on full stomachs half way across the Quarter to make it in time...we just barely made it. Yesterday I was up at 7:30 again!! It was a relaxing morning of reading and watching season 2 of Scrubs. We then went to the Santa shop in the Quarter. I got the prettiest tree skirt (which I found bunched up by the TV stand this morning...kitties moved it) some ornaments and my Christmas cards. The best news was that I found out that Central Grocery opened on the 1st. Monday through Saturday. Guess what I am having for dinner tonight??? We then went home and vegg'd some more. It was a pretty nice weekend. I was asked to come in early today, to help get some things done. I spent Friday afternoon on a typewriter. That's right a typewriter. The program we use was down. This morning when I got here at 7, the program was up but we can't print. They had also found a way to email a blank invoice to me so I could enter it on word. But it won't open on my computer. Its such a Monday here. The rain doesn't help. Oh that's the other thing....all weekend, I wore shorts!!! It was in the mid to high 70s. Earlier last week it was in the 50s....today its suppose to get up to 58. Talk about confusing a body......

My day revolves around TV right now. Or reading a book. I am slowly going crazy. At least I think that is what is going on. Thankfully this weekend will be a bit more active. Tomorrow I am going to help Dia at work with a customer service carnival thingy. Friday we are going to see one of her favorite bands. Her parents arrive this weekend as well and we are going to the Texas State Fair. Tuesday we are going to see "Wicked" I am beyond excited to see this. I have been dying to see the production since I first heard about it being done on Broadway. I have had the cast recording since the day it came out. Randy is busy finishing up the book right now. I can't wait to read "Son of a Witch" the follow up book that was just released!! Then my sis comes to town on Wed, then we go to NOLA the next day. Hopefully in the time at home I will know when I can go back for good. I talked to the landlady's office yesterday and they are still trying to figure things out. They are just getting back to the city themselves. Oh and in all that, the boy should be here for at least a day. Or a night. Whichever, at least I get to see him again!!! How boring is this entry? Maybe I will do daily recaps of "Days of our Lives" for those who don't get to watch it. ;)

I was so confused this morning...okay I am confused MOST of the time..however when I woke up, first thing I thought of was "Its Tuesday morning and I don't remember going to work yesterday" I seriously thought I slept through Monday. Then I thought I had blown off work completly. I guess its because it was a nice relaxing weekend. That must have been it. Friday night Carrie, Adam and I went to harrass Mark Braud at Palm Court. He was sweet as always...fun to talk to and of course to hear play. The lady that was singing with the band was SO much fun. I lurve her. We also got to chat with Lucien.....and he even sang a duet with the said lady. LOVED LOVED LOVED that. Saturday dawned and I just hung out at home for awhile...then went and saw Crash. I very highly recommend everyone see that movie. It is beyond excellent, and really gets you thinking...I need someone here to go see it...then we can talk about it. I then went and got Dad's father's day gift and finally picked up Harry's new cd "Occasion" I know...I know....bad Harry fan. But I had to wait for the $$. It is, of course a great CD. I just keeping thinking of "crystal clear" when listening to it. I also picked up a few new books, one of which I have devoured already....I love books like that. Sunday was just more...reading and talking to friends on the phone...planning everything we are going to do, rather they are going to do (I am tagging along for some of it) when they are here in July. I also got to see eppie #2 of "Into the West" I have gotten sucked into that series on TNT. I was a bit apprehensive on watching it this week. I had read an article in a Televison weekly mag that we get here at work....it was about the mis-treatmeant the Native Americans received onset. Things like, shooting going later than planned (no biggie that happens alot) however they would get to eat breakfast and lunch, provided to them, and then when shooting went longer...the dinner was for the crew and the lead cast...not for the extras. If they did take food from the catering table, they were asked to leave the set for good. The tutors were not supplied for the children, as were promised. Big union no-no. Several were promised more money for their bump-stunts (falling off horses, and what not) and still haven't received that extra money. The costumes of course were minimal for the extras...and the weather was extremely cold for the shoot. They were provided one heater for all the extras. The article indicated that a lot of the white extras weren't treated much better either. I just kept thinking of that as I watched the 2nd part last night. There were many, many other things I had going through my brain as I watched. I was shocked beyond belief when they showed the sun dance in the first eppie. It is such a sacred ceremony...that I am surprised the Lakota people were okay with it being aired. Not that it happens a lot anymore, but still. There are plently of things that the Salish won't let people video during the Arlee Pow-Wow. I am pretty sure I will keep watching it, although it saddens me to think of the troubles that happened on the shoot.

Apparently I thought the last post was so important that I had to say it 3 times. I do remember it taking a long time to post...but don't remember doing it 3 times. Oh well. The craziness has subsided at work for now. Yesterday and today we had the guys putting in the new phones, a contractor in looking at one of the rooms to add more work stations, a casting call happening in the conference room and various other craziness. It makes the day fly by, but boy am I cranky. I hate that. I am beginning to think that the start of a cold...is actually allergies. Although Malcolm went home early Monday and today and was out yesterday, he has the flu and sinus infection, I told him that if I got sick, I was kicking his ass. Several other people agreed with me.
One fantastic thing I realized today as I walked down St. Charles Ave...is I have been a resident of NOLA for just over 6 months. I can't believe that. Sometimes it all seems like a fantastic dream and I will wake up back in rain dreary Seattle. I did have a small panic attack last night. If you want to call it that. I was sitting on the couch watching Season 6 Part 2 disc 1 of SATC. I have not seen the last 8 eppies and was very excited about that. In those first 4 eppies, Miranda gets married, Charolette struggles with the baby issues, and Carrie kinda does as well when the Russian tells her that he doesn't want more children. These characters are 38. I will be 30 in 6 months. I think I had what almost every normal women goes through. "Oh my god, what am I doing with my life, will I ever get married, will I ever have a baby?" It was a moment. Normally I am quite fine with my life, and am just going with the flow right now. Whats the rush? Now as I approach 30, I am having a few more of these moments.....its not a fun feeling.
