The other day I mentioned that it wasn't fair that NOLA had all these fantastic musicians. Another thing that is unfair? Is the amount of things that go on in this city. You really can't do it all. Trust me, I have tried. Last night I really wanted to go and see Paul Sanchez play at the Howlin Wolf. Tim Reynolds (of DMB) was also playing. I ran into a friend at the grocery store and they asked if I was going to the Maple Leaf to see Papa Grows Funk. You know what I did? I went home, cooked a HUGE dinner and watched TV. Bed by 10. It is hard on a "school" night to go out. Especially when you still aren't up to a 100% health level and knowing you have a fun busy weekend ahead. Tonight I am faced with the same dilemma. The choices are again hard. I can either go to the Howlin Wolf to see "Swimming Upstream" which debuted during the V to the Tenth celebration back in April. I missed it because I was working on the big show that was going on in the Arena. It is being restaged with some of the actresses the performed in the Vagina Monolouges included Liz Mikels who filled in for Oprah and did such an amazing and moving piece. Of course this is about what women went through before, during and after Katrina. I was thisclose to buying a ticket this morning. But that $30 is kinda steep for me right now. Also tonight is the recording for Glenn David Andrews Gospel Album. I know Paul Sanchez is playing on a few songs. He has a new song that is being recorded for this and apparently it is pretty moving. This event is free, at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist in the Treme. Or I can stay home and watch Biggest Loser. I have a feeling I will be a big loser if I don't go to one of these two events. So if you don't live here...which one would you go to? and if you do live here, which one are you going to? (or would want to?)

I know it sucks ass. Blame Mike Furir.

damn thats a tough choice! Will there be other opportunites to see "Swimming Upstream"? It sounds amazing...I would probably go to that if its the only performance. Anyway to do both?
